Come see the colorful and intricate steps of Highland Dancing at the Scotland County Highland Games. Inspired by traditional dances as well as later influences of classical dance, competitors from throughout the United States perform and compete in dances such as the “Highland Fling,” the “Scottish Sword Dance” and the “Seann Tribhuas” (shedding of the old trousers) as well as national dances such as the “Sailor’s Hornpipe” and the “Irish Jig.” A choreography contest is also part of the day’s events with dancers creating their own interpretations of Scottish dance to the accompaniment of modern music. It is always a treat to see the precision and beauty of these dances performed by dancers of all ages and from throughout the United States (and sometimes Canada) who compete at our event.

All dancing events are sanctioned by and conducted under the rules and regulations of SCOTDANCE USA.
